Professional and academic background
A law graduate from the NOVA University Lisbon School of Law, Manuel Melo holds a Master's in Legal Sciences and completed postgraduate training in Information Management Systems at NOVA Information Management School, pursuing doctoral research on the intersection of data protection and cybersecurity in European digital regulation.
Since 2010 he has served as Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer in public and private institutions, in Portugal and other EU Member States. From 2021 he additionally took on Security Officer duties, in information security, cybersecurity and fraud prevention.
